Star Wars was unquestionably the science-fiction/fantasy movie of the late 1970s. As a movie it set a new standard for the fantasy genre, as well as spawning two sequels and a host of books, comics, etc. There was even a daily newspaper strip that continued the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and the rest of the characters as they sought to save the galaxy from the tyranny of the Empire.
More than a decade later, Dark Horse comics brought that strip back with Classic Star Wars. Although it was quite a challenge translating a newspaper strip into comic book form, Dark Horse did a fine job of it. Redundant panels were cut and the entire set of artwork was brilliantly colored. As a result, the further tales of Star Wars, as told by Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson, can be told to a whole new generation of readers.
